You feel it? It is that time again. Spring is gone, and summer is in its peak, and that means one thing, college football is near. Now, the South's king will return, and it will be better than ever. This year, will be a year of expansion for the Report. This year, substance will be put above style, hence the simpler redesign. This year, I'll be expanding coverage to not just the SEC and ACC. This year, Big South and the Southern Conference. To make the transition easier, a larger conference will be coupled with a D1-AA conference. We'll be looking at the ACC and the Big South in the next piece, but this piece will focus on the SEC and SoCon. First, the SEC. We'll take a quick overview of each team, to give you, the reader, a more in-depth look at the teams in the conference. Alabama The Crimson Tide lose John Parker Wilson at QB, and this will hurt more than Tide fans think. I'm pretty sure all are aware that the Florida Gators have a QB by the name of Tim Tebow . The guy is a specimen: 6-foot-2, 240 lbs...can run over LBs, and complete passes, while running the spread option offense. He is also a humanitarian, a humble Christian, and a seemingly squeaky clean guy...and I couldn't be sicker of him. I'm sick about hearing about how great he is on and off the field..with every announcer and color commentator (mostly on CBS) prepared to get on their knees and give him what they think he needs. I've come to the conclusion that he is a pure system QB that couldn't function in a pro-style offense. The guy has a horrible throw that will get picked off in the next level: A long wind up, and unbalanced base, and a sidearm wobbler that can be picked off by even the worst pro-DBs. The guy is a fullback playing QB, and FB is where I expect him to be in the pros. A guy his style will not translate to the NFL. Also, this whole "perfect angel...

Well, the dust has settled, and the first week of college football is in the books. From a stunner in Charlotte with ECU topping Virginia Tech, to a blowout in Atlanta, and a single overtime thriller out in The Rose Bowl to cap off the weekend, football is back and appears to be better than ever. I went an okay 15-6 last week, going 1-1 in the headline games with USC shutting out NC State, but Alabama busted my bubble as they blew away Clemson in the Georgia Dome with hard nosed football. How will I fare this week? This weeks headliners will be Georgia Tech vs. Boston College from the ACC, and South Carolina vs. Vanderbilt from the SEC. Commodores (1-0, 0-0) Vanderbilt is coming off an impressive 34-13 victory over Miami (Oh.). The 'Dores are led by quarterback Chris Nickson (9-of-16 for 91 yards, 1 TD passing; 20 carries for 166 yards, 2 TDs).
