Weekly Predictions (11-3-2007)

Well, I went 1-1 again concerning our in-state schools. Clemson beat Maryland, and USC's second half comeback was a few feet wide to the right. Anyway, it is a new week, and I'm looking to get back to going 2-0 in the big feature games. This week I won't be writing a Clemson Tiger breakdown, because they are playing Duke. Instead I'll focus on USC, and I'll make a special write up today. Starting with USC v Arkansas Razorbacks (5-3, 1-3) Arkansas is coming off a 58-10 victory over FIU, and are riding a two game winning streak. The Razorbacks are led offensively by the tandem of RBs Darren McFadden and (equally potent) Felix Jones. The two have put up a combined 1,853 yards and 19 TDs. The offense averages about 40 ppg on 287.6 rushing yards per game, and 163 yards through the air. The defense is led by SS Matt Hewitt (71 tackles) and MLB Weston Dacus (70 tackles). On the whole, the defense gives up about 20 ppg, 150 yards on the ground and 177 through the air. G

Weekly Predictions (10-27-2007)

Well, I went 1-1 with the in state game. USC fell to Vanderbilt (not what I thought would happen), and Clemson spanked Central Michigan (like I thought would happen) It is a new week, as USC travels to Tennessee, and Clemson travels to Maryland. USC vs. Tenn. Volunteers (4-3, 2-3) Tennessee is coming off a loss to rival Alabama and are looking to get back into the win column. They are led on offense by QB Erik Ainge, who has gone 169-256-4 passing this year with 13 TDs, accumulating 1,797 yards passing, and a passer rating of 138.6. WR Lucas Taylor has proven to big the big target for Ainge, hauling in 43 balls for 633 yards and 3 TDs. Arian Foster leads the running backs with 625 yards and 8 TDs. The offense on a whole is averaging about 32 points per game, with 148 yards on the ground and 270 through the air. The defense is lead by the linebacker duo of Jerod Mayo and Rico McCoy, and the DB Jonathan Heffney, a former Rock Hill High standout. The defense is giving up about 32 ppg, on

Contreception in Middle Schools (My take on the controversy in Maine)

http://apnews.myway.com/article/20071018/D8SBC6KO0.html The link above will explain the controversy. I highly suggest you read it before you read my opinion...otherwise my writing won't make a bit of sense to you. The basic controversy here is arguing if contraceptives should be in middle schools. I personally don't see any harm in them being there, the more kids are knowledgable about sex, the more ready they will be to make the decision to have or have not at an appropriate age (in my mind, 17 or 18). What the real issue is here the parenting; or better yet a lack of it. Again we have a classic case were schools have to step in and pick up the slack that the home doesn't do. I know that in some areas of this country the home life isn't a good one, but c'mon, this is Maine! I have a real solution for this problem, blame the parents. These kids are no older than 14 years old. I'm not familiar with the driving restrictions in Maine, but I'm sure no one there

Weekly Predictions 10/20/2007

Alright, last week I didn't do as well (I went 6-3). I completely missed the Kentucky upset, the Auburn win, and the Wake win over the over hyped Seminoles. Anyway, onto this week. Both in-state schools are in action this week; Clemson takes on the MAC leading Central Michigan Chippewas (Can someone tell me what a Chippewas is?) and South Carolina returns to conference play with Vanderbilt. USC vs. Vanderbilt Commodores (3-3, 1-3) Vanderbilt is coming off a heart-breaker to Georgia (along with a V stomping that pissed off Georgia coach Mark Richt, nice going UGA). Bobby Johnson has slowly improved the program since he has been there, the only problem is the SEC continues to get better, but the 'Dores are competetative, and command respect every week. They are led on offense by star (and in my opinion, the best wide out in the SEC, and top 5 in the nation) Earl Bennet, who has 44 catches for 530 yards and 4 TDs.(averaging about 88 yards per game). They also have a mobile QB in

Weekly Predictions 10/13/07

So last week I did pretty well picking. USC won and Clemson lost. I was off on the Florida upset, but my week 6 record was 7-2. (I also missed on the Tenn beatdown of Georgia. Anyway, it is a new week, and I'll be featuring one game this week since our other local team is licking their "special"(team) wounds. USC v UNC I'll call this one the " Battle of the Carolinas ". Tarheels (2-4) Carolina North type is coming off a pretty big win over Miami. Butch Davis is laying the seeds of success at UNC, that is for sure. The only thing is that wasn't your daddy's Miami, a program who is in the same shape as Florida State; a mere shadow of its once prominent self. Anyway, the offense is run by redshirt freshman quarterback T.J. Yates. Right now he is completing 63% of his passes (100-163). He has thrown 9 TDs on 231 yards per game on average, but has also had 8 INTs. His leading receiver is Hakeem Nicks, who has hauled in 31 balls for 413 yards and three to

Picks for the Week (10/6/07)

I'll keep this one pretty short, two games. This week I'll focus on the USC vs. Kentucky and Clemson vs. Virginia Tech matchups. I'll start with: USC v. Kentucky Wildcats Kentucky has a high powered offense, led by dark horse Heisman hopeful Andre Woodson. Woodson receives help from running back (and former TL Hanna standout) Raphael Little, receivers Keenan Burton and Dicky Lyons Jr., and tight end Jacob Tamme. The offense is averaging nearly 50 points per game (46.6) on 492 yards per game. Clearly a very high powered offense. On the year, Woodson has been stellar so far. He has gone 112-167 for 16 touchdowns, while only throwing 1, count it, 1 interception. Burton, Lyons, and Tamme have combined for 847 yards and 9 touchdowns. One man to watch is Steven Johnson, who has 4 TDs on the year so far. The defense gives up 22 points per game on 384 yards per game, which shows they allow a lot of yards, but not a lot of points; a bend but don't break defense. One thing to not

The first Post

Hey guys, It is the first post ever on my improving blog. I should have this site up and fully finished no later than next month. Anyway, I'll give you guys the basic lowdown of this thing. This site will contain my opinions on a variety of topics. Reviews of movies and music for one. Also will talk about sports, I'll give my predictions on games, and you can tell me why I'm right or wrong. I'll also use this to post random thoughts and rants on issues, and I may even divulge into some politics if my stomach can handle it. Also, feel free to send me mail on topics you would like for me to write on. A certain game you want me to predict, a new band, or a movie. Also send hate mail if you disagree with me.
