Notre Dame football....More like No Game U.

Image
Recently, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team signed a contract extension with national television station NBC til 2015. The deal extends the Irish's opportunity to be on national television every week until 2015. What a dumb, yet intelligent move by NBC! Ratings will come pouring in, those that want to watch the Fighting Irish, as well as those, like myself, that want to see their shamrocks, shilaleghs, and four leaf clovers get stomped into the turf by any and all opponents. My question is, how does Notre Dame get so lucky to sign such a lucrative contract that will garner them national exposure that will aid in recruiting for Charlie Wiess and the rest of his staff. It isn't like they need the exposure. Any high school player that has the ability to play Division I-A football knows the powerhouses-Southern Cal, LSU, Ohio State, Texas-as well as royalty-Florida State, Michigan, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Notre Dame. These players don't need to see the Irish every week.

The Happening..............

The Review. What do you get when you mix invasion of the body snatchers with M. Night Shyamalan? You get The Happening, Night's most recent film that came out, eerie overtone music, Friday the 13th. With a film that's main tag line was, "From the director of The Sixth Sense and Signs , brings you his first R-Rated movie," I must say my expectations were not through the troposphere. The film did surpass my expectations though. The basic premise of the film is that something in the air is getting into the systems of people, and forcing them to kill themselves in so very cool and innovative ways. It starts in Central Park, then spreads to parks in the Northeast, and slowly works its way into the rural, unpopulated, boon dock areas. All the while everyone is trying to figure out what it is and escape it. The story centers around Elliott (Mark Wahlberg) and Alma (Zooey Deschanel) Moore. Elliott is a biology teacher (big plus to have in this story) who has fallen on rough

Energy Independence is a Must for America.

Question? What do the blistering months of summer have in common with gas prices? They are both drying up America; drying the consumer of precious fluids and money. Prices in South Carolina are approaching $4 per gallon, while other areas have already passed that mark. With prices showing no signs of stopping, what is the American consumer to do? Sadly, the best we can do is call our elected official, assuming they are in their office, and hope that they actually do something in Washington. But let's be posotive. What America needs to do is achieve energy independence, and eventually rid itself of its dependence on oil, both foreign and domestic. In regards to the oil, America needs to lessen its need on oil from the Middle East, and essientially, OPEC. The solution to the loss in oil is simple. Drill on our own turf. According to reports, there are huge oil depositories off in the Gulf Coast, in the Dakotas, and in Alaska, better known as the ANWAR province. The only problem there

The NBA Finals

It is time to pay attention to what is going on with the pros of the hardwood. For nearly 82 games, they went unnoticed. For nearly all the playoffs, no one really cared. Now it is time to care. For any basketball aficionados, it doesn't take a genius to tell you that the sports best, and most relevant, rivalry is between the Boston Celtics and the LA Lakers. These two storied programs have won the most titles in the NBA, and one team will hoist yet another banner in the coming weeks. The question is, who? The Lakers have a strong case. First, they have the league MVP, and the closest thing the league has to a Michael Jordan, in Kobe Bryant. Like him or hate him, you cannot deny this man has some serious game, and is the best player in the league right now. But the Lakers have other weapons. Pau Gasol is the man in the middle, and the second option in the offense, while forward Lamar Odom has found his groove in being the third option. Add in role players like guards Jordan Farmar,
