Conference Title Picks

Image
Well, it was another 1-1 week with the big games. Virginia Tech beat our rival Virginia, and will be taking on Boston College for the ACC Title. South Carolina lost a last second heart breaker to rival Clemson. This week I won't be writing very in depth. One is because I'm a little tired, and two is because I have finals. Anyway, this week I'll be predicting the conference title games, along with a few others. SEC Title game: Tenn. over LSU ACC Title game: VT over BC Big 12 Title game: Mizzou over Oklahoma MAC Title game: Central Michigan over Miami (OH) CUSA Title game: UCF over Tulsa Navy over Army BYU over San Diego State S. Cal over UCLA Oregon State over Oregon Arizona State over Arizona Cal over Stanford Hawaii over Washington and for Division I-AA App State over E. Washington Delaware over N. Iowa UMass over S. Weekly Predictions (11-24-2007)

I'm working on a short week with Thanksgiving around the corner, so I got on this one early. Anyway, last week I went 1-1 in the big games (Georgia made me look like a genius, Clemson made me look like I have the intelligence of Tommy Bowden). It appears that it is going to be the ACC vs the SEC this week. The big games I'm looking at are Virginia vs Virginia Tech and Clemson vs South Carolina. Virginia vs Virginia Tech Cavaliers (6-1, 9-2; 1st in Coastal) Virginia is coming off a bye week, and previously a blowout victory ov er Miami (FL) and are looking to punch their ticket to take on Boston College to in Jacksonville. The offense is led by the young QB Jameel Sewell (185-317-8, 1,977 yards 11 TDs). RB Cedric Peerman leads all rushers with 585 yards and 5 TDs. RB Mikell Simpson (319 yards, 6 TDs), Andrew Pearman (141 yards, 2 TDs), Keith Payne (219 yards, 2 TDs) and Sewell (228 yards, 2 TDs) also contribute to the run game. The passing game is spread to three main guys, Sim

A Birthday Post

It is my 20th birthday today, Nov. 16, 2007. Which means one thing....364 1/4 days until I turn 21. Anyway, I got to thinking about birthdays, and a friend of mine brought up an interesting point about birthdays, and how he can't get all happy about his. He mentioned that it was hard for him to get happy about something that means he is just a year closer to dying. My response, "I never thought of it that way." It then gave me the idea, coupled with a documentary I recently watched on the history channel, to write this blog entry on death. Yeah, a little bit of a downer on a birthday, but I'll get over it. ........................................................................................................................................................................... I just got done watching a feature on the history channel that talked about some of the major differences between Judaism, Islam, and Christianity. It was actually pretty interesting. One point th

Weekly Predictions (11-17-2007)

Well, I went 0-2 in big games last week. Georgia beat Auburn and Clemson dominated an overrated Wake Forest team. But, it is a new week, and it is time I redeem myself. This week I'll be focusing on Kentucky vs Georgia (their second week in a row on the blog) in the SEC and Clemson (their second week on the blog in a row) vs Boston College. Kentucky vs Georgia Bulldogs (5-2, 8-2 1st in East) Georgia is coming off a big 45-20 win against their rivals Auburn. The Bulldogs came out and had a big passing game, but the run was crucial to the victory, as well as a tough UGA defense. The Georgia offense is now averaging about 33 poi nts per game on 174 yards on the ground and 209 yards through the air. QB Matthew Stafford has improved his TD-INT ratio, he has gone 17-7, which isn't bad at all. RB Knowshon Moreno is turning into a top runner in the SEC, and I like his enthusiasm and hustle. He has carried the ball 200 times for 1,104 yards and 11 TDs. WR Sean Bailey is the go to threat

Review of "American Gangster"

Image
Anyone interested in massive amounts of gun play? Neither was I. That is why I became a big fan of "American Gangster." Now, I like a good ole fashion gang movie with a massive shootout, which this one had, but I also personally like gangster movies that have some brains, and not the type spewed all over the walls. The basic storyline is that Frank Lucas' (Denzel Washgington) gang mentor, boss, and friend has passed from old age. Now Harlem has gone into chaos, and Lucas wants to restore order, like any good gangster/business man does. Anyway, it is 1968, and the conflict in Vietnam is ongoing, and Lucas gets the idea to ship in pure heroine, not the watered down version the other gangs are selling, and eliminate the other businesses in the area. Meanwhile, Richie Robert (Russell Crowe), the cop with a good moral code in a corrupted department, is assigned to a special unit to take down the major crime lords in the area. What follows is a smart, witty take on the gangste

Weekly Predictions (11-10-2007)

Well, I did bad in the big games last week (0-2). Arkansas's McFadden and Jones took the USC defense to the woodshed (I said USC needed to stop Jones; he scored 3 TDs, McFadden had 1 rush, 1 pass TD...they didn't stop Jones). LSU beat Alabama on a John Parker Wilson fumble around the Tide 4-yard line that was later punched in for 6. Oh well, it is a new week, and I've got 2 more big game breakdowns, and the rest of my picks on the ACC and the SEC. This week I'm looking at the two big games in the conferences. The ACC gets Clemson vs Wake Forest and SEC gets Auburn vs Georgia. (yeah, no South Carolina. I'm hoping that maybe if I don't write about them, they might win, plus the UGA v AU game carries a little more in the standings) Auburn vs Georgia Tigers (4-2, 7-3; 2nd in SEC West) The Tigers are coming off a blowout 35-3 victory over patsy Tennessee Tech. After a rocky start, Auburn appears to have things going......better. After Brandon Cox rode the bench for a

I Want my MTV back!

Image
Does anyone remember the 80's? I was a late 80's child, but there are a few things I remember; big hair, bright shirts, and MTV. Well, big hair left, the bright shirts are slowly coming back, I regret, and MTV is just plain awful. Man do I miss the good ole days when MTV did what it stood for. Music Television, and how. All day played these new things called music videos. Not only did you get to hear the music, but you got to see the artist too. What an inventive and yet simple idea. Fast forward 20 years. MTV has become CS&LMTV (Crap Shows and a Little bit of Music Television). What the Hell happened! I now only get about 2 hours of music videos, most of which I could've crapped better ideas with a heavy laxative. Then, I finally get a pretty cool song and video together, and I think "Now we are getting somewhere". As soon as I think I'm starting to get good music, BAM!, I get smacked in the babymaker with some of the worst ideas for TV imaginable. I mean
