Energy Independence is a Must for America.

Question? What do the blistering months of summer have in common with gas prices?
They are both drying up America; drying the consumer of precious fluids and money.

Prices in South Carolina are approaching $4 per gallon, while other areas have already passed that mark. With prices showing no signs of stopping, what is the American consumer to do?

Sadly, the best we can do is call our elected official, assuming they are in their office, and hope that they actually do something in Washington.

But let's be posotive. What America needs to do is achieve energy independence, and eventually rid itself of its dependence on oil, both foreign and domestic.

In regards to the oil, America needs to lessen its need on oil from the Middle East, and essientially, OPEC. The solution to the loss in oil is simple.

Drill on our own turf. According to reports, there are huge oil depositories off in the Gulf Coast, in the Dakotas, and in Alaska, better known as the ANWAR province. The only problem there is the enviromentalists, who are, according to some like Neal Boortz, former communists, Marxists, and Socialists wanting to further destroy the capitalistic system of America through the enviroment (a little far fetched if you ask me).

But America can't achieve true independence simply by drilling for more oil in America, even though that would lower gas prices emensly. What also needs to be done is investigation and utilization into renewable resources of energy. Two of these are the wind, and the sun.

The utilization of the wind is key. If Americans can get the idea of seeing windmills. It is estimated that just a few can light New York City...impressive. Enviromentalists again are rearing their green heads, saying how these things kill birds. An easy solution, before building the windmill, consult and expert on bird migration patterns, and build where they don't fly. If some birds die, will blame natural selection.

And how could we have missed the biggest renewable resource, the sun? We see it every day. My hypothesis is, that if a home used solar power panals, and nothing else, they would be fine. The power would go into a generator when the sun goes down, to keep the house sustainable until the dawn comes again. Just imagine, having to no longer pay for electricity or gas to heat your home.

Their are other process, like hydro power that we already utlilize. I'm not completely sold on nuclear power, even though most of France runs off of it. It has many posotives, but I haven't researched enough the negatives to see in the pros outweight the cons.

Really, it is in America's best interest to become energy independent, as well as cutting its dependency on foreign oil. With an energy independent nation, America can remain the world power that it knows it can be....this all assuming our "representatives" actually do something in Washington.
I'm holding my breathe on that one.
