Michael Vick is Back!

The 2009 NFL campaign could be seen as one of returns.

The Patriots Tom Brady is coming after a serious injury, as is the Bengals Carson Palmer, and now you can add one more to that list, and it isn't Brett Favre.

Former Falcons QB Michael Vick is back in the league, and the NFL is better for it, and surprisingly, the team taking him isn't the Cowboys or the Raiders. The Philadelphia Eagles are the ones who will be taking a chance on the legally embattled QB.

Vick, if he comes back in form, makes the Eagles a better team. Of course Donovan McNabb is the QB for the Eagles, and Vick knows that. But the Eagles don't have a proven backup guy in case McNabb goes down with an injury, and Vick can give them that, but at most Week 6.

Also, Vick gives the Eagles a big game threat. With his speed, he can return punts and kicks, and run the "Wildcat" for them.

Best for the Eagles, the locker shouldn't split with the addition of Vick. McNabb is the unquestioned leader of the flock, and Andy Reid is a coach that can handle the personality of Vick. He did keep Terrell Owens, or better yet T.O, happy for at least 1 season.

And the best for the Eagles, Vick's contract money isn't guaranteed, so if it turns out he is a bust, the Eagles don't lose too much.

Regardless of the fact if you even like Vick, and I personally am not a big fan being a dog owner myself, but in the eyes of the law, he arguably makes the Eagles a contender to win the division.

As far as the P.R. "nightmare" from animal rights groups like PETA, he did his time and paid his debt, so in my eyes and the law, things are squared even.

There are players in the NFL right now playing with a much longer and hainous rapsheet than Vick's (just look at the Bengals), so the Eagles aren't bad guys in this situation.

Does Vick's additon mean the Eagles will win the Super Bowl?
No. There are still questions on Oline; if they have a legitimate deep threat at WR with DeSean Jackson, Reggie Brown, and Jeremy Maclin; if they have depth at RB behind Brian Westbrook with LeSean McCoy; and how will the defense be without Brian Dawkins.

But Vick's addition does mean they are contenders for the NFC East with the Giants, with a weak Redskins team, and a Cowboys team that seems to be a meltdown waiting to happen.
