Where should Favre play?

I've been following the unfoldings of what seems to be the eventual and inevitable split between future Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers.
I must say, this is turning into one messy divorce.

At first, we that Brett wants to talk the Packers GM Ted Thompson, but Thompson is on vacation, and asks Favre if they can talk about it afterwards. I guess we could assume this meant Favre wanted to come back.

Now we hear how Favre isn't going to listen to the Packers, even after Thompson and head coach Mike McCarthey appear to want him back.

This is more confusing and ugly than Christie Brinkley's recent divorce (her fourth).

Now, according to the AP, a rally was held in Green Bay by a hundred or so fans that pleaded for Favre to return, "Favre 4 President," and "Favre 4ever."

I hate to break it to the Packer faithful, but it doesn't look like Favre is going to be wearing the green and yellow come September. Favre has two option: One, he stays retired; or two, plays elsewhere.

I personally think that Favre will stay retired, but let's have some fun and say he doesn't. Let's say he is playing elsewhere come Fall. The question is, where?

There are plenty of teams we can rule out. The Colts, Patriots, Bengals, Steelers, Jaguars, Titans, Browns, Broncos, and Chargers are no option in the AFC, because they all have established QBs.

AFC teams that could be helped out are the Bills, Dolphins, Jets, Ravens, Chiefs, and Raiders.

I don't think the Dolphins, because they are trying to get rid of the age and build for the future with John Beck. Jets already have Clemens and Pennington, and a 3rd QB wouldn't really solve anything for the future. The Chiefs are similiar to the Jets with Brodie Croyle and Damon Huard.

The Raiders are banking on JaMarcus Russel, who I predict will end up being a bust.

The Ravens could use Favre though. They used an older QB before in Steve McNair, and it could do wonders to aid in the development of their most recent QB draft pick, John Flacco. They could use Favre for 3 more seasons, and then insert Flacco as the franchise QB of the future.

In the NFC, the whole East is a no go, and the North teams are so weak that Favre won't play for a losing team, as is the West also. In the South there is hope, and it couldn't be any weirder.

But first, the teams that wouldn't work. The Saints have Drew Brees, the Panthers have Jake Delhomme and Matt Moore for the future. The Buccaneers are already using an aged guy in Jeff Garcia. But the Atlanta Falcons could use a QB after the failed Michael Vick era (who of which just filed for bankruptcy between $10-50 millon).

It works out perfectly. The Falcons have Matt Ryan from the draft. Favre could go to the team that originally drafted him, and play for 3 season. This would help Ryan mature and grow as a QB, much like the Flacco scenario I played out earlier.

So that is it. I see Favre playing with birds of prey; the Ravens or the Falcons.

I hope it is the Falcons. That way the drama could play out like this: The Falcons and the Packers meet in the NFC title game. Aaron Rodgers versus Brett Favre.

Probably won't happen, but it would make for great television.
