Playoffs would work in Divison I-A Football

There are skeptics that say a playoff would never work in DI-A football, but I highly disagree; just look at DI-AA.

Here is my skematic:
You take the conference champs from each conference (because everyone deserves a fair shot if they win their conference).
Just looking at this year, you would have LSU (SEC), Virginia Tech (ACC), West Virginia (Big East), Ohio State (Big 10), Oklahoma (Big 12), Southern Cal (Pac-10), Central Florida (C-USA), Central Mich. (MAC), BYU (Mount. West), Hawaii (WAC), and Florida Atlantic (Sunbelt).
That is 11 teams right there.

Next, you would pick 5 wildcards to make it a 16 team field.
Just for the sake of the argument, I'll attempt to pick 5 deserving teams. If you don't like it, insert your own.
1-Georiga. No one in America is playing hotter than these guys, they go in.
2-Virginia. Yes, they finished second in their division, but they are a tough ball club.
3-Illinois (already beat the current #1 in Ohio State)
4-Texas (quietly had a pretty strong year)
5-S. Florida (beat the Big East champs)

There you have your 16 teams.
If your team didn't get in it is their own fault for not winning their games.

Next, you would still use the bowls. You keep the lower tier bowls for teams that deserve it, by increasing the minimum wins to be 7 out of 12; a winning record.
The higher tier bowls (Outback, Cotton, Chick-fil-a, Rose, Sugar, Fiesta, Orange, etc.) remain, and are the sights for second round and on games.
The first games take place like normal games, at someones home field.
To make it fair, the bowls rotate with different games. Say that the Sugar and Orange host the game to get to the title game, next year is might be the Orange and Rose, then Rose and Sugar, then Sugar and Fiesta, then Fiesta and Orange, and so on.) The other games go to the second round, and coincide with the GMAC and International Bowls.

People now say time...well, just look at D1-AA. They start their second round playoffs during championship week of D1-A. So, you give a week or two off after the D1-A Championship week, and then run the playoffs.

People next ask about the other bowls.
You still keep them, bowl tie ins still exist, and other teams still play during the playoffs, they just don't matter as much.

Looking at my model, I'll try and go through the playoffs to give a more concrete idea for those that may be a little lost...because I am a little myself.

Judging by my playoff, LSU would probably win on paper, but that is why you play the game.
For those that are worried about non-competeative matchups, just look at a few you get. (see picture)

This, like everything, works in theory.
The Presidents of the Universities get to keep their bowls to make money, and the fans get a true National Title winner.
Both sides get what they want.

I'll accept my patent, and payment for the idea.
